MIX is a non for profit community mental health day service.
There is a high percentage of adults with a mental health condition across New Zealand. Whilst medication works to alleviate the negative aspects of conditions; it does not go far enough.
For a community to be mentally well, we need to have social connections, give time to feel valued, take notice of the positive aspects of life and the environment, keep learning new skills to continually improve and be active to ensure a balance of physical and mental wellbeing.
MIX participants have a range of mental health conditions. Participants have clinical support however, for most, they do not have the non-clinical support or space to be where they are included for who they are, and to be supported to be themselves, and to reach their full potential.
This is where MIX comes in, to support individuals to ensure mental wellbeing is their taonga.
- Mahi ngatahi. We work together
One person alone can’t hold all the answers. We work together with participants, staff and the board as well as our wider community. Through this collaboration, we embrace our strengths and diversity to learn from each other.
- Whai huarahi. We create opportunities
Opportunities open doors. We support individuals to learn and grow by providing opportunities inside of MIX so that they can flourish outside of MIX.
- Whāia te iti kahurangi ki te tūohu koe me he maunga teitei. We seek solutions
Our cup is always half full. We work hard to problem solve by focusing on what can be done, rather than what’s stopping us.
- Whakamana i nga ahuatanga katoa o te tangata. We see all of the individual
Everyone is unique. Te whare tapa wha enables us to support the individual as a whole: their mental, physical, social and spiritual selves. Through this, we can provide the right support at the right time for each individual.
Ki te tihi o ngā rangi.
Through living our values, we will reach our potential, and be the best version of ourselves, whatever that may be at the time.
